Jerry started to work “part time” for the Bossardet Funeral Home in Oxford in February 1957 and has maintained active employment ever since, working directly with Edward and John Bossardet, and then staying on when Tim and Jennifer Lynch acquired the funeral home from the Bossardet family in 2002. In his over five decades of employment, he has worked in all phases of funeral home service and is one of the contributing factors as to why the funeral home has maintained a positive reputation within its community. In 2005 the Bossardet and Lynch families honored Jerry with the “Outstanding Service Award” for his exemplary contributions towards servicing the families of Oxford.
A lifelong resident of Oxford, Jerry was born in Addison Township, Michigan in 1928, one of seven children of Charles & Lottie Griffin. He was married to wife Evelyn in 1950. They have four children, eight grandchildren & five great grandchildren. He has been a member of the Oxford United Methodist church for over 50 years.
A 1946 graduate of Oxford High School. He graduated from the Detroit Business Institute in 1951 with an accounting degree. He retired from General Motors in 1984 after 36 ½ years as an accountant.
Active in many community organizations, including Past District Governor of Lions Club International, Past President of the Oxford Veterans Association, Life member of American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Past President of the Oxford Lions Club. Also has served on several committees for the Township of Oxford (Election Boards, Tax Board of Review, and recently 27 years on the Oxford Area Cable commission). Currently serving as President and Curator of the Northeast Oakland Historical Society, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Oxford POH Health Care Center.
