Terry Joseph Zeeman
August 02, 1952 - July 02, 2010
Zeeman, Terry Joseph, born August 2, 1952 in Pontiac, MI passed away at his home Friday, July 2, 2010.

It took hard work to raise a family as close as ours.  Terry was at the heart of everything that truly mattered in our life.  He was a loving husband to Kathy, his wife of 36 years.  A wonderful father to Cassandra and Jessica, father-in-law to Eli Berant and new grandfather to his precious grandson Rhys, who came 9 weeks early to meet his remarkable grandpa.  Terry is survived also by his twin brother Berry Zeeman.

Terry was employed by Lake Orion Community Schools as head groundskeeper.  He had respect for his co-workers, faculty, and students.  His presence there will be greatly missed.

Terry had a passion for all things outdoors.  He had his little piece of heaven in Leonard where he lived with his wife, daughters, son-in-law, 3 dogs, 6 cats and 7 horses.  Anything or anyone  who needed a place to stay was always welcome.  His most recent love was that of self containment.  He tinkered with wind and solar energy, he heated the house with a wood burner, and he took up half of his prized lawn to put in a garden.

Terry left big boots to fill, but with the help of family, friends, neighbors and prayers we will go on without him.  He would not have wanted it any other way.

A Memorial Service will be held at Upland Hills Farms 481 Lake George Road Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 5 PM with a pot luck dinner to follow immediately after the service. Friends may begin to gather at the farm starting at 3 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorials in Terry's honor to maintain the farm he built and so loved.

Condolences:
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we will begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. May you rest in peace Cousin Terry and may your family be strong. We love you.

Kathy, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting your husband, but the photo of him is wonderful. He looks like a very kind, sweet, loving, hard working, all around great man. Nothing can ever replace such a special person with whom you have shared so many years of your life. I cannot even begin to imagine the loss that you and your family must feel at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time. There is nothing that anyone can say or do that will make this time any easier for you and your family. Just pray for peace and acceptance, and with time perhaps the hurt and loss will not be so painful. I am sure that you will always miss your life partner. My heart goes out to you and your family. Work will keep me from being able to attend the memorial and I am terribly sorry, but I will be there in thought and prayer. My deepest sympathy. Patty Banfield

Kathy and family, I was priviledged to have known Terry. He was a terrific person who was very helpful to me. He introduced me to green power, both wind and solar and I plan to continue with this. That last Friday at the school, I showed Terry a solar panel that I made and we had intended to have more discussions about that and some windpower projects. The obituary photo shows the true ambiance of a warm, smiling person, someone used to hard work and the love of the rural life. He will be greatly missed but if we take his example of what he would do in life, we will be encouraged to remember him with the same smile he always wore.

Kathy, Casey & Jessi, We are so sorry to hear of Terry's sudden passing. We remember fondly the times when Kirk & Terry worked together at Bordine's sharing a great friendship, and even the same birthday! And even though they're all grown up, our girls still know him as "Terry Green Truck". We'll keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers as you begin the difficult task of trying to continue on. With our deepest sympathy, Kirk, Terri, Jessica & Amanda Forman
